Unschoolers ‘homeschool’ without any curriculum. It’s what life probably looked like before schooling was institutionalized. Children purse their own interests and they do so at their own pace. When they want help and ask for it, parents help them learn if they can, or find someone qualified to do so if they can’t.
Play is paramount, and studies demonstrate that this is probably the best way children learn. They tend to set up adult scenarios and play them out, learning by a safe method of trial and error. Playing ‘house’ and ‘school’ are two such examples.
